A Call for Geek Artists!

Hey, friends! I’m trying to put together a fan art zine based on the Alien movies which I’m going to be calling “No Bad Dreams…” It’s being planned as a standard 24 page, 8.5 inches by 5.5 inches with grayscale interiors, filled with Xenomorph inspired art by myself and even better art and comics by artist friends and many other talented artists.
The title and cover art is in reference to a scene from Aliens, involving Newt’s doll head, Casey.
With Prometheus, the upcoming “spiritual prequel” to Alien, coming out in a matter of months and the new Aliens - Colonial Marines game in the works from Gearbox Software, I thought it would be the perfect time to launch such a project.
I’m an illustrator and I hate doing free work as much as the next guy. I’m really not looking to make a huge profit from this once its completed; just enough to cover the printing cost of the limited run. Everyone whose art makes it into the zine will be mailed a copy of the finished product for their troubles. I’ll probably end up losing money on this in the end. I just thought it would be a nice way to introduce myself to a larger artist community and basically work together to make a bitchin’ collection of Alien fan art. This is more for the love of the films, it’s imagery, its mythology and strong female protagonist. I’ve seen this kind of project work beautifully before.
If you are up for it, here is what I’m looking for:
ORIGINAL tribute illustrations and short comics based on and inspired by any of the Alien films in the Quadrilogy (Alien, Aliens, Alien3, Alien Resurrection). I’ll even accept Prometheus related artwork since it looks like it will actually be a proper prequel to the others and not just a “spiritual” prequel. Draw characters, scenes, environments from the films or give your own spin on them. Since the movies were rated R, you can show some violence, but nothing too extreme, please. I want to keep it tasteful.
What I’m not looking for: I’d like to focus on the core films in the Alien universe and not really anything in the Expanded Universe or AvP films. We all know the AvP films were terrible. I don’t want to see Predator either, sorry. No crossovers with other properties in general.
That’s it! Just have fun with it. I’m really excited to see work by people with the same enthusiasm for Alien as me!

If your submission is accepted, I’ll contact you further to send the higher resolution file and information for artist credit, etc…
Just remember that not everyone will make it in. Please don’t hate me if you don’t. It’s really nothing personal since space is very limited.
